Places For Any Wedding Party In Des Moines Iowa

You can find your perfect wedding venue in Des Moines.


The city of Des Moines, Iowa is located in Polk County of Iowa. Des Moines is centrally located between the Iowa cities of Ames and Iowa City; and Omaha, Nebraska. If you are planning to host your wedding in Des Moines, the Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau's sales coordinator can provide you with legal and venue information in regards to hosting a wedding in the city.


The Temple for Performing Arts


The Temple for Performing Arts offers a choice of three halls that you can book for your wedding reception. If you want to hold your reception here you will have to use the Embassy club for catering because they have an exclusive agreement with the Temple. Catering packages are available to suit a variety of budgets. You can choose from the Grand Hall, Recital Hall or the Performance Hall for your reception. The Grand Hall accommodates 450 peoples, but only 275 for a sit-down dinner with a head table and 350 without the head table. The Recital Hall seats between 80 and 100 guests with large stained glass windows. The Performance Hall seats 300 guests and is designed for optimal acoustics.


State Historical Building


You are able to rent the Atrium, first floor or the top terrace level and adjoining room for your wedding reception. From the terraces you will be able to view the Capitol and downtown Des Moines. If you host your wedding reception here, your guests will also be able to enjoy the library, museum and gift shop. The atrium is skylit so your venue will be filled with natural light. If you are interested in the State Historical Building, make a personal request for seating capacities, rates and catering options.


Botanical and Environmental Center


The Botanical and Environmental Center has nine different rooms available to rent for social events. Most of the rooms available are designed for smaller guest lists, including only allowing up to 20 people; others accommodate up to 40 guests, 60 guests and 80 guests. If you rent the combination of the Oak and Willow rooms you can accommodate between 100 and 250 guests. You also have the option of renting one outdoor space, the Herb Garden with the Gazebo. However, it is only available May until the first weekend of October in three hour increments. Cost of renting the venues vary depending on the day of week and time period you would like the room. As of December 2010, the Botanical and Environmental Center offers a wedding package for $1700 which includes the Dome or Oak and Willow room rental and a bride's dressing room. Catering is performed by the Great Midwestern's catering service.
