Potential customers for a dog training business are limited to the number of people who own dogs in your area, and marketing is a crucial part of letting them know about your services. As you develop a marketing plan, find ways to reach out to pet owners and partner with complementary businesses to widen your audience.


Partner With Vets


To reach out to dog owners who are serious about keeping their pets happy and healthy, create marketing partnerships with veterinarians in your area. Schedule visits with local vets to talk about your services; offer to allow them to advertise in your facilities if you can leave your brochures and marketing materials in their office. Consider creating special discounts for the clients of the vet's business, and ask her to offer a discount for your customers. A partnership can be valuable for both businesses, and you will have access to a built-in audience.


Referral Program


Word-of-mouth advertising can be invaluable for a dog training business; a personal recommendation is usually worth more than any advertisement. If you have a dog training trick up your sleeve, pull it out to impress the dog owner; this is particularly effective if the dog is misbehaving and the owner is frustrated.
