Merchandising is a marketing tool that is used to creatively and effectively display product lines in retail stores in an effort to improve sales. The tried and practiced theory behind merchandising is that seeing a product on prominent display outside a store encourages more people to enter and sales of the displayed products to increase. Tiered product-line displays will be particularly spectacular in large department stores and retailers throughout the Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Mother's Day and Father's Day periods. Tiered displays are advantageous to retailers because they allow more than one product to be displayed in the same prominent position at the same time. You can create basic tiered product lines in front of your retail store with a display table, some milk crates and table cloths as a base.
Instructions
1. Position the display table lengthways outside your shop.
2. Cover the table with a tablecloth.
3. Place one row of five milk crates on the long, front edge of the display table.
4. Place a second row of five milk crates directly behind the first row. Stack five milk crates in a row on top of the second row of crates you just finished.
5. Place a third row of five milk crates directly behind the second row. Stack five milk crates in a row on top of the third row of crates you just finished. Stack another five milk crates in a row on top of the third row of crates you just finished. You should now have a three-tiered display of milk crates.
6. Cover the milk crates with table cloths.
7. Display your product lines on top of the three rows of milk crates. Use a stepladder to place items on the back row, if necessary.
