Daschunds are part of the hound family.
Drawing objects from nature requires keen observation and high drawing skills. The daschund, otherwise known as a wiener dog, is a breed of dog which has short legs and a long body. As per American Kennel Club (AKC) standards, it belongs to the hound group. Different artists use imagination and creativity and depict daschunds differently. Still, the features that also distinguish a daschund are a long head, ears that hang down to the cheeks and oval eyes.
Instructions
1. Draw a tall rectangle with height twice of that of its breadth. Draw a line in the middle of the rectangle vertically. Draw three parallel lines inside the rectangle. Draw the third line such that it divides the entire rectangle into two rectangles of 3/4 and ¼ sizes. Draw another line in the middle of the upper portion, forming three rectangles. Again draw a parallel line in the middle of the upper rectangle. These are the guidelines to draw the head, body and feet.
2. Draw a circle spreading in the two upper rectangles that are symmetric to the vertical line. In the lower portion do not close the circle normally; close it with a wide and deep U. This is the head and the snout. Below the wide U, draw a small U to depict the lower jaw. Draw two straight lines on each side starting from the ending points of the circle and ending at the line connecting the second and third parallel lines. This will be the neck.
3. Draw two curved lines downward starting from the neck, in the third rectangle, touching the two sides of the third rectangle. This represents the long body. At the bottom of the rectangle, curve them slightly inward.
4. Draw legs in the last rectangle, one on each side with two slightly curved lines. Connect them with four small open Us to represent the toe separation. Add a small curve on the right of the left leg and left of the right leg to depict the fifth toe. Draw a wide U connecting the legs, representing the bottom of the chest.
5. Draw two big ears, one on each side of the head, spreading in the two upper rectangles. Let them look natural by hanging down the cheeks. Draw two ovals inside the first rectangle symmetric to the vertical line for eyes. Draw thick curved lines above the eyes to sketch the eyebrows. Draw a trapezoid with a curved top in the second rectangle for the nose of the daschund.
6. Draw two jagged lines upwards, starting from the two ends of the nose. Make it curved before reaching the eyes toward the sides of the head. This is a separator for the face. Draw a small straight line below the nose and in the middle of the snout. Draw two lines inward beside the nose, starting from the snout. Draw two circles, one each in the eyes to represent the eyeballs. In the gap, outside the eyeball, draw some lines to give an original look. Draw two small circles inside the nose to represent the nostrils. Add some dots in three rows in the snout.
7. Draw some folds in the face and ears. Include some lines on the forehead, in between and around the eyes and also along the edges of the ears. Draw two lines on the sides of the neck, and another two lines on the throat. Draw two curved lines in toward the body to look like the start of the front legs. Draw a wide U at the bottom of the chest. Draw a few curved lines along the edges and inside the legs to represent some folds. Also add claws to each toe by drawing small lines. Draw hind paws below the chest. Finish it in the same way as that of front paws, but slightly smaller.
