As such, the state of Alabama prohibits the possession, sale, offer for sale, import, or release of any non-indigenous venomous reptile in or into the state unless authorized by designated state employees. 2. Explain to the relevant person that you would like to obtain a license to keep a venomous snake in Alabama. Provide details of the snake breed and whether it is native to the state. The contact will direct you to the relevant paperwork to fill out and the procedure for getting a license.
3. Fill out the necessary paperwork. You will be required to undergo an inspection by an official from the office, who, along with a biologist, will determine whether to certify your enclosure, habitat and ability to maintain this animal. They will then advise the department on whether to issue you a permit to keep the snake. If a permit is issued, it will be null and void after the animal dies. If the venomous snake is not native to Alabama, it is illegal to replace it.
