Create A Guinea Pig Cage

Guinea pigs are among the most popular pets in the country. Unfortunately, there is one major problem about purchasing a guinea pig - the cages provided by pet stores are almost always too small. Build a cage for your guinea pig ensure your pet develops in the proper habitat.

Instructions

1. Provide as large of an area as you possibly can for your guinea pig. Plan to build a cage at a minimum of 7.5 to 10.5 square feet.

2. Keep your cage on the floor as you build it. Building the cage from the floor prevents you from injuring yourself in the process. (See Resources)

3. Purchase square grids that you can put together to make cubicle walls. You can find these square grids at most home improvement supply stores.

4. Place some outdoor carpeting beneath the cage. Outdoor carpeting prevents you from ruining the floor and is easy to keep clean.

5. Use a large plastic container for your guinea pig's bed. These containers are relatively inexpensive, durable and easy to clean.

6. Place plenty of toys in the cage to ensure that your guinea pig remains stimulated. Most standard cat toys work just fine for guinea pigs..
