Grants or loans For Dog Save & Dog Dog houses

Several organizations offer dog charity and rescue grants.

Working to save abandoned or neglected animals requires start-up funding and operating capital. Dog rescues, as well as kennels that perform rescue work, are eligible for grants from a number of organizations and companies. These grants can help to offset operating expenses.

American Humane

American Humane offers three grants: the Meacham Foundation Memorial Grant, the Second Chance Fund and the American Humane/HomeAgain Universal World Scan Grant. According to the American Humane website, the Meacham Foundation Memorial Grant must be spent for buying equipment and making building improvements to shelters. The grant pays out up to $4,000. The Second Chance Fund offers assistance for organizations that save animals from abuse or neglect and provide a home until they can be adopted out. They limit the amount of funding to any one agency to $2,000 per year. Groups wishing to receive funding must be members of the American Humane Association. The American Humane/HomeAgain Universal World Scan Grant offers grants to shelters. They must be members of both American Humane and HomeAgain Universal. These are given year round, based on the availability of funds.

PetSmart Charities

PetSmart Charities offers a grant to dog rescues for the targeted spay/neuter of dogs. The dogs should be in areas where there is a known problem with non-sterilized animals reproducing. This often includes low-income areas and individual families in need of assistance in this area. PetSmart Charities considers grant applications in the range of $10,000 to $100,000 per year.

Banfield Charitable Trust

The Banfield Charitable Trust offers grants for pet advocacy groups. If your dog rescue or kennel is doing legitimate advocacy work, you may qualify. The Banfield Charitable Trust does not fund entire projects; they will cover 50 percent of the total amount needed for a project. Groups are expected to secure the rest of the funding through other means. They also do not fund adoption or spay and neuter programs. International programs, those set up for remodeling or rebuilding a facility and general operating costs are also not covered through these grants.
