Get Knots From Polyester Hairpieces

Carefully comb out any tangles after each wig use.

If you have just pulled a favorite polyester wig out of your costume drawer and it is filled with tangles, don't stress! All you need to detangle a polyester wig is patience and a wide-toothed comb. It is not unusual for polyester wigs to become tangled after being worn, packed away or packaged for sale. Less expensive wigs of lower quality will tangle easier and more often than expensive and high-quality wigs. Allow extra time before you need to wear the wig to remove all tangles.

Instructions

1. Place the wig on a wig storage mannequin head. If you do not own a mannequin head place the wig over a ball or lay it out on a flat surface.

2. Comb through the wig with your fingers to loosen as many tangles as possible. Start at the bottom of the wig and work your way up.

3. Use your fingers to separate a 3-inch section of hair from the wig. Clip the remainder of the hair off to the side.

4. Comb any tangles out of the bottom 1 inch of the 3-inch section of hair using a wide-toothed comb. Once those tangles are removed move comb up another inch and detangle that section of hair. Repeat the process until the entire 3-inch section of hair is detangled.

5. Release the clip.

6. Separate a 3-inch section of hair using your fingers and clip the rest of the hair back. You should now have a 3-inch section of hair free of tangles and another 3-inch section of hair ready to be combed.

7. Comb any tangles out of the bottom 1 inch of the 3-inch section of hair using a wide-toothed comb. Once those tangles are removed move comb up another inch and detangle that section of hair. Repeat the process until entire 3-inch section of hair is detangled.

8. Continue to comb out tangles from 3-inch sections of hair until the entire wig has been combed out.
