The dachshund is one breed of dog which can be born with golden eyes.
Dogs, just like their human owners, can come in a multitude of shapes, sizes, temperaments and colors and also posses a variety of different eye shades. Eye color in wild canines such as wolves tend to be light while domestic dogs have darker eye colors. However there are many genetic factors which can affect the eye color, resulting in shades from amber to yellow and gold.
Chesapeake Bay Retrievers
The Chesapeake Bay retriever is a large breed of dog with males tipping the scales at up to 85 lbs. and standing at 26 inches from the shoulder. They have a dense, thick coat which is usually dark brown in color, webbed feet for swimming and goldish-yellow or amber eyes. They were originally bred to be hunting dogs and require lots of exercise on a regular basis.
Dachshund
Although brown is the most common eye color for dachshunds, amber or blue eyes can also occur and is caused by recessive genes. The colors of amber eyes in a dachshund will vary from gold, yellow, yellow-green, grey or light brown. The dachshund is known as a lively little dog with a long, short body, a friendly personality and a keen sense of smell. They were originally bred in Germany in the early 1600s and used to dig for and fight badgers.
Australian Shepherd
The Australian Shepherd, also simply known as the "Aussie" is another breed of dog which may have light-colored eye shades including gold, lemon yellow, amber, light brown, green, orange and blue. The Aussie is a medium-sized dog with a wavy coat and a natural bobbed tail. They are active, friendly, nonaggressive dogs and are not recommended for people who have a sedentary lifestyle.
Havanese
The Havanese, also known as the bichon Havanese, is a tiny little dog usually no more than 8 inches tall with a wavy coat. They come in a variety of colors including cream, gold, brown, white and black. It is the dark colored chocolate Havanese which can have light-colored eyes such as amber, yellow-gold and green.
These intelligent, affectionate dogs are very playful and possess a high degree of intelligence. They are sociable animals and get along with everyone including other pets.
