Use Clorox Around Pets

Clorox -- a brand name for household chlorine bleach products -- is well known in domestic circles as a disinfectant. Another well-known fact is that full-strength chlorine bleach is anything but mild. Instead, it's caustic and can burn skin and eyes. Yet, when properly diluted and applied, Clorox is safe to use around pet bedding areas and even directly on food and water dishes.

Instructions

Clorox Regular Bleach Use

1. Wash the affected area with mild soap and water, and rinse well before using Clorox to disinfect. Dry the area with paper towels. Wash floors and countertops with water only before drying.

2. Mix 1 tbsp. of Clorox bleach with 1 gallon of water for disinfecting pet feeding and watering bowls. Fill the containers with the bleach-and-water mixture, and allow it to stand for two minutes. Drain the bowls and air-dry before filling with food or water. Keep pets away from the bowls until they area completely dry.

3. Mix 3/4 cup of Clorox bleach to 1 gallon of water. Mop or wipe the bleach solution onto the countertop or floor. Allow the solution to remain on the surface for five minutes before rinsing with water. Keep pets away from the surfaces during this time. Allow to air-dry.

Clorox Anywhere Hard Surface Daily Sanitizing Spray Use

4. Spray Clorox Sanitizing Spray onto any hard, nonporous surface that needs light cleaning and disinfecting.

5. Allow the spray to remain on the surface for two minutes. Monitor the area so pets won't step in the wet spray or lick the area.

6. Wipe the surface with paper towels to remove the spray residue.
