Use Bleach To Wash Dog Urine On Cement

Dog urine can leave a nasty smell that lasts after the urine dries.

Take safety precautions when cleaning dog urine off of cement with bleach. Dog urine contains ammonia, and mixing bleach with ammonia can produce toxic fumes that are potentially lethal. Even though the levels of ammonia in dog urine are low, it is best to neutralize the urine before cleaning it with bleach. If used correctly, bleach can be an effective way to remove dog urine from cement.

Instructions

1. Wipe up as much of the dog urine as possible using paper towels.

2. Mix 1 tsp. of mild dishwashing liquid and 1 cup of water. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle.

3. Spray the mixture onto the dog urine stain. This will break up the ammonia that is naturally found in dog urine.

4. Combine 1/2 gallon of water and 1/2 cup of bleach.

5. Saturate a clean white cloth or rag in the water-bleach mixture.

6. Scrub the dog urine stain and surrounding areas with the mixture. When the cloth starts to get dingy, saturate it in the water-bleach mixture and scrub the area some more. Repeat a few times to penetrate down into the concrete.

7. Rinse the area with clean water to remove all bleach residue.

8. Allow the cement to air dry.
