Yorkie Save Groups In Texas

There are many reasons a family may have to give up a beloved pet, and rescue organizations are a great way to make sure they'll find loving, forever homes. Multiple rescue organizations in Texas are specifically oriented to Yorkies and are always looking for adoptive families.

Yorkie and Small Dog Rescue

Yorkie and Small Dog Rescue is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of abused, abandoned or otherwise homeless dogs and is not a shelter. Located in the suburbs of the Houston/Conroe area, this non-profit all-volunteer organization fosters the dogs in private homes.

All rescued dogs are spayed or neutered and up-to-date on all vaccinations before they can be considered for adoption. An application and home visit is required prior to adoption. Dogs are available for adoption according to health considerations. Adoption fees vary with each dog.

Bluebonnet Yorkshire Terrier Club, Inc.

Bluebonnet Yorkshire Terrier Club accepts surrendered Yorkies for a variety of reasons, including changing economic or living situations, retired show dogs and breeding stock and special circumstances, including abuse.

There is no charge for surrendering a dog, but donations to cover medical needs are always welcome. An adoption fee of $125 to cover veterinary costs is decreased or waived for special circumstances. Families wishing to adopt must fill out an application and prove they can provide a stable living environment. Homes without small children are preferred. Rescued dogs are kept in private homes until a forever home is found.

This group isn't online, but you can call organizer Diane Henry at 972-333-6921 or e-mail her at dianemhenry@yahoo.com.

The Yorkshire Terrier Club of Greater Houston, Inc.

The Yorkshire Terrier Club of Greater Houston, Inc., accepts surrendered Yorkies at no charge and will keep them until a forever home is found. All available dogs are vet certified; a $150 fee to cover veterinary costs is charged for each adoption. A home visit is required prior to adoption to assess suitability of home and family to each dog. Donations to offset veterinary and other costs are welcome.

Yorkie Haven Rescue

Founded in 2006, Yorkie Haven Rescue is committed to finding forever homes for rescued and surrendered Yorkies and Yorkie mixes regardless of age, sight, hearing or other health issues or handicaps. All dogs are kept in the private homes of a dedicated staff of volunteers.

Before being offered for adoption, all dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccinations and heartworm checked.
