Small Cooper Clubs In Northern California

The Mini was first introduced to the car world in 1959. The small stature and gas-sipping nature of the car belied its roominess, making it an instant worldwide sensation. Only Ford's Model T was more influential for 20th-century automobiles, according to the Global Automotive Elections Foundation. Like classic cars everywhere, Mini Cooper has an enormous following.

The Bay Area

Northern California Mini Cooper clubs tend to be among the most diverse in North America. The Bay Area is home to one of the first Mini Cooper clubs in the U.S. Mini Owners of America--San Francisco (MOASF) was founded in 1965 in an effort to bring together owners of this very distinct vehicle. Whether you live in the Sierras, the Central Coast or in Gold Country, Mini clubs are as easy to find as they are to join. MOASF asks for a $20 membership fee along with an application requesting the year, make and model of your Mini. The application also notes that you do not even need to own a Mini to be a member of the club.

Events, Charities, Enthusiasm

The Danville-based NorCal MINIs club was founded in 2004, making it a newer addition to the landscape of Mini enthusiasts in northern California. Serving members from the California-Oregon border as far south as San Luis Obispo, NorCal MINIs have made strides in promoting community service as part of the mission of the club. Often raising money for various local charities, the days include meetings at a local restaurant for lunch either before or after events.

REME

For enthusiasts living in San Francisco, Marin, Sonoma, Napa, Solano, Mendocino and Lake, the Redwood Empire Mini Enthusiasts (REME) founded a club for owners who lived within an hour driving radius of Petaluma to Healdsburg. Their mission is focused on the driving experience and enjoying trips through the winding roads of northern California. REME requires no yearly dues, and prefers to financially support the club through monthly raffles. The proceeds from the raffle, as well as the yearly fees charged by other clubs, helps finance newsletters, website production and a contingency of club expenses.
