Hang A Series Link Fence Gate

So you have the chain link fence almost done but you now have the gate left to hang. If you had no problems putting the fence together, attaching the gate will be a breeze. What you want is to finish the fence enclosure, ensuring that the latch connects properly. The gate must also be very sturdy.

Instructions

1. Attach hinge straps to the gate. On one side of the gate you will need two hinges. One hinge will be near the top and the other near the bottom. Put the gate on top of your support blocks, positioning it at a height that it will stand alone after you attach hinge straps.

2. Mark the gatepost where the post and hinge will meet when the gate goes on. After you mark these areas, you can lay the actual gate aside. Put in the top and bottom pins for the hinges, with the top curved end looking downward and the bottom pin curve looking upward.

3. Attach the gate. Put the gate on the post, putting the proper hinge strap onto the right hinge pin (top goes on top and bottom goes on bottom). Do a swing test with your gate.

4. Position the latch. You want to place the latch catching part on the post backward from the hinges. Latch pin will then slide on the gate rail. Put it where it will meet the catching part.

5. Tighten the latch with your wrench, but be careful not to over-tighten it. You should now have a fully functioning chain link fence gate. Do one last swing test to make sure gate and latch are positioned correctly.
