Allegiant Air offers discounted domestic flights.
For your next vacation or business trip, booking through a discount airline can save hundreds of dollars. Allegiant Air has been around since 1997 and offers flights within the United States as well as charter flights to Canada and Mexico. When booking a flight, consider flying during the week when fares are typically lower. For busy holiday travel, buy tickets a few months in advance.
Where to Book Tickets
Though many discount airlines allow customers to book flights through booking sites, Allegiant Air only sells tickets through its own website. On the Allegiant website, you can book flights only, or look for deals on a flight plus a hotel room, a flight plus a rental car or a flight, rental car and hotel room. Flights can be booked through the website or by calling the reservations number. To keep costs low, Allegiant no longer has a toll-free number.
When to Buy Tickets
According to the Independent Traveler website, the best time to book flights for busy travel times, such as holidays, is three to six months in advance. On the other hand, according to the Allegiant Air website, it does not require advance ticket purchase. This would be a good option if you are flying at a non-busy time of the year and your dates and times are flexible. The airline does not overbook flights, so everyone who buys a ticket is guaranteed a seat. All reservations booked within two hours of the flight must be booked at the airport.
Ticket Tips
To reduce costs, Allegiant requires full payment at the time of reservation and only uses e-tickets, or paperless tickets. The carrier does not offer discounts for round-trip flights, because each flight is priced by segment, according to the Allegiant Air website. All tickets are nonrefundable. If you want to purchase a ticket now, but your dates are still flexible, consider purchasing Trip Flex. When added to your purchase during booking, Trip Flex allows you to make unlimited changes to the date, flight or destination. On the day of your flight, be sure to check-in at least 45 minutes before your flight, as the Allegiant ticket counter closes 45 minutes before flights.
