Print Several Tent Cards With Various Names Using Microsoft Writer

A table tent, a folded piece of paper with a person's name, company name or other information, can be an ideal way to let people know where to sit, keep track of event attendees and identify vendors at a trade show. Take advantage of Microsoft Publisher, the desktop publishing layout and design component of the Microsoft Office Suite, to create table tents for each name on the list. After creating the template, you're able to print as many cards as required with different names on each.

Instructions

1. Open Publisher and click the "Blank 11 x 8.5" button at the top of the "Available Templates" pane. A blank, horizontal page opens on the screen.

2. Click the cursor anywhere in the vertical ruler running across the top of the workspace and drag a guide down to the middle of the page. It doesn't have to be exactly even, it just helps break up the page so you'll know where to put the person's name.

3. Click the "Insert" tab at the top of the screen. Click the "Draw Text Box" button in the middle of the ribbon/toolbar on the tab. The cursor turns into a plus sign.

4. Hover the cursor over the bottom half of the page and draw a text box.

5. Type the person's name into the text box.

6. Highlight the name and click the "Home" tab at the top of the screen. Use the controls in the "Font" section of the toolbar to increase the size of the text so it fills the whole text box and is easy to read. Change the font and text color as desired.

7. Click the "Insert" tab at the top of the screen. Click the "Page" button on the left side of the ribbon/toolbar. Select "Insert Duplicate Page."

8. Highlight the name in the text box on the second page and type over it with a new name. Repeat the "Insert" and "Page" process to add duplicate pages and change the names until you have table tents for your entire roster.

9. Click the "File" tab and select "Save As." Give the table tent file a name and save it to the computer.

10. Turn on the printer and load in the paper. Click the "File" tab and select "Print." Leave the settings as their defaults or nudge the "Copies of print job" box up to the number of copies of the batch of table tents to print. Click the "Print" button to print the table tents.
