Draw A Cartoon Baby Beagle Dog

A beagle's floppy ears, wet nose and big brown eyes make it the perfect subject for cartoon drawing. Simple lines and shapes are all you need to draw a cute cartoon beagle. This simplicity makes a beagle an ideal subject for even a beginning artist.

Instructions

1. Draw your guidelines in light pencil. Use basic shapes, which you will erase when you start forming the more refined drawing. Draw a circle for the head and a larger circle for the upper body, just below the head. Attach the torso to the upper body in a simple oblong cylinder. Draw thin lines to indicate where you will fill in the legs and tail.

2. Draw the details of your beagle. Start with a wide, flat oval on each side of the circle for ears. The ears should begin thin at the circle and widen as the ears progress down the side of the face. Draw the round shape of the eyes onto the head, then erase the guide circle you drew.

3. Draw your beagle's muzzle, extending it away from the head. Draw a small, round triangular portion at the end of the muzzle for the nose.

4. Fill out the body using a photo as a guideline. Draw the lines for the body around your torso and upper-body guide, then erase the guides. Thicken the line you drew for the tail, then add lines to fill out the legs.

5. Draw the spots on your beagle. Three or four variously shaped spots will do. Place one near the upper body and one toward the back end of your beagle. Don't draw perfect circles for the spots, because that will take away from the natural look.

6. Color your beagle with brown, white and black color pencils. Color the spots white on a brown body. Color the body with side to side strokes, allowing the strokes to overlap freely, which will give the body a furry look. Add brown to the eyes, then use your eraser to blend it until you have a moist appearance. Color the nose black and do the same with the eraser that you do did with the eyes.
