Find Train Occasions For Queensland Rail

Queensland Rail (QR) is responsible for the railway system of the state of Queensland in Australia. It's the largest rail system operating on narrow gauge rails in the world and provides commuter and long-haul train service throughout the state. Follow these steps to start planning your trip.

Instructions

Find Train Times for Queensland Rail

1. Find out more information on "Traveltrain" routes by visiting the QR Web site (see Resources below). Here you'll find departure and arrival times of all trains operating within the system's 3 sectors.

2. Call QR at 011 (+61) 7 131 617 to find more information on train times and booking.

3. Select the departure and arrival stations.

4. Select the future date of travel if you're not looking for current train times. You can select a day of the week or a specific date to search.

5. Download PDF versions of timetables for the "Citytrain." QR also posts special timetables for holiday travel, if alterations to the regular schedule are planned.

6. Find published train timetables at all attended QR stations in Brisbane.

7. Click the "Citytrain timetables" tab on the left to find times for trains currently running or scheduled to run.

Navigate Queensland Rail

8. Travel throughout the state of Queensland on QR's "Traveltrain" routes. They are comprised of 3 main services: Coastal, Outback and Tropical.

9. Ride along the Coastal Blue line from Brisbane to Cairns. This route acts as the main line from which all other routes diverge on the Queensland Rail system

10. Choose from three Outback Red routes to travel inland from Queensland Rail's Coastal Blue line. Spirit of the Outback travels north and then to the west to Longreach. The Westlander departs directly west from Brisbane to Charleville. The Inlander route travels from Townsville to Mt. Isa, the most inland destination on Queensland Rail.

11. Take 2 unconnected routes in the Tropical North line to experience some of Queensland's most scenic routes. The Kuranda Scenic Rail travels from the coastal city of Cairns up into the rainforests of Kuranda while the Gulflander travels between Normanton and Croydon.

12. Pack with QR's baggage allowance policy in mind. Each passenger may check in 2 bags weighing no more than 25 kilograms a piece and carry on another piece of hand luggage.

13. Take your car with you through QR's Motorail services. This is offered on limited days for the Outback and Sunlander services.

14. Travel within Brisbane on QR's "Citytrain" service. There are stations throughout the city.
