Breed An British Bulldog Having A Pug

When you breed a bulldog and a pug, you get a well-known hybrid called a miniature bulldog. Since the miniature bulldog is not a purebred, you will not be able to sell it, but the small dogs do make adorable puppies and long-living companions. Choosing to breed your dogs is a big decision, though. You may end up with too many puppies and need to give them away.

Instructions

1. Get your female pug or bulldog tested for any parasites or infections. Even the mildest infection can harm the puppies she carries. Treat her for any problems at least a month before you breed her.

2. Update all of your dog's shots at least two weeks before you start the breeding process. Do this with both the male and the female.

3. Monitor your female dog's behavior. Her heat cycle, also known as her fertile cycle, generally lasts 21 days. When the heat cycle begins, she will have bloody vaginal discharge and a swollen vulva. A good indicator that she is in heat is the way male dogs react to her. Male dogs will start gathering around your yard and home, attempting to gain access to her. She is not fertile during this time; keep her separated from all male dogs.

4. Wait to breed your female until her vaginal discharge lightens to a lighter shade of red. At this time, you will notice that she rubs her backside against the ground and walls. When she does this, she is "flagging." At this time, allow your male dog to share a pen with her. This fertile period will last anywhere from four to seven days. Remove your male dog from the pen after seven days.

5. Create a makeshift bed for your female pug or bulldog and her puppies. It can be something simple like a warm blanket in a cardboard box.
