The Parkersburg Obedience Training Club (POTC) hosts the only dog show in or near Zanesville, Ohio. The club offers agility trials to all registered dogs 4 times a year and prides itself on a friendly yet competitive atmosphere. Trials are usually held in the Zanesville Fieldhouse Sports & Wellness Center.

The POTC is located in Vienna, West Virginia, approximately 90 minutes from Zanesville, Ohio. They currently offer obedience, puppy training, agility and conformation classes to dogs 3 months and older. As of August 2010, class costs range from $15 to $70. All instructors are volunteer club members. The POTC holds six general meetings each year, and the Board of Directors meets on the 1st Monday of every month. Membership is open to interested applicants 18 years of age or older. To become a member of the POTC, applicants must have completed 16 weeks in a training program, filled out an application that has been approved by 2 current members, attended 2 out of 3 consecutive business meetings and been approved by 3/4 of all members present at the second attended meeting.

Agility Trials in Zanesville
The POTC holds North American Dog Agility Council trials in February and June and American Kennel Club trials in April and October. The entry limit for all interested dog owners is 660 dogs. Applicants are chosen by random draw. Eligible breeds are all American dogs or American dog mixes, as well as any American Kennel Club-recognized breed. As of August 2010, entry fees range from $11 to $22.

Course
The Zanesville Fieldhouse has bleachers for observers and an outside field for exercise and bathroom breaks for all dogs. While the agility course layout is kept private until the trials begin, it boasts new infilled turf, as well as rubberized contacts and 24-inch weave poles.
