Be A Equine Groom

If you a horse lover looking for an interesting career opportunity, you might want to consider becoming a horse groom. A horse groom takes care of horses, not just grooming, but feeding and general maintenance as well. Sometimes called stable hands, a horse groom even keeps stables clean. If you're up for a physical job and enjoy being around horses, becoming a horse groom is for you. Though neither well-paying or particularly glamorous, working as a horse groom can be the perfect opportunity for the right person.

Instructions

1. Love horses and enjoy working around them. Be physically fit and like working outdoors. Be at least 16-years-old. There are no academic requirements to become a horse groom, but horse experience is mandatory.

2. Ride horses. As a horse groom, you will be responsible for taking the horse out on daily rides for exercise. You should be an experienced rider with ability in a variety of disciplines.

3. Live in or near a rural area, where the demand for horse grooms will be highest. Horse groom positions will mostly be available on farms, in riding stables, boarding facilities, or riding schools.

4. Volunteer at a local stable to gain experience and see if the work is for you. Most employers will look for a horse groom candidate to have experience and volunteering is a great way to gain exposure to horse care and management.
