Trifectant disinfectant
is effective against a range of pathogenic microorganisms affecting dogs.

Trifectant is a broad spectrum disinfectant and pesticide that effectively neutralizes and eliminates a wide range of microorganisms, including yeasts, molds, mycoplasma, bacteria (gram positive and gram negative) and viruses. Trifectant disinfectant is manufactured by Tomlyn (a division of Vetoquinol), based in Texas, United States.

Ingredients

Trifectant disinfectant combines potassium peroxymonosulfate (approximately 50 percent), sodium alkyl benzene sulphonate (15 percent) and sulfamic acid (5 percent). These ingredients work together to eliminate rabies, canine parvovirus, foot and mouth disease, in addition to numerous other viral and bacterial pathogens.

Effectiveness

Trifectant disinfectant is effective against a variety of bacteria, including Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Treponema hyodysenteriae, Bordetella avium, Mycobacterium bovis, Salmonella typhimurium and Streptococcus suis.

Its effectiveness extends to numerous viruses, including the African swine fever virus, avian influenza virus, calf rotavirus, chicken anemia virus, distemper virus, egg drop syndrome adenovirus, feline parvovirus, equine herpes virus and rotaviral diarrhea virus.

Trifectant disinfectant neutralizes the harmful effects of ringworm, mud fever, Microsproum canis, Rhizoctonia solani, Fusarium oxysporum, Verticillium dahliae and other plant pathogens and fungi.

Uses

Trifectant disinfectant is typically used in veterinary hospitals, quarantine areas, kennels, quarters for laboratory animals, poultry farms (breeder/broiler houses, processing plants, air sanitizing units and hatcheries), bovine and equine production, greenhouses and for emergency disease control.

Application

All food stuff and animals need to be removed from their enclosures, crates, coops, vehicles, trucks or other premises before applying trifectant disinfectant. Surfaces should be thoroughly soaped and rinsed with water before saturating them with a diluted solution of trifectant disinfectant for at least 10 minutes. Closed spaces need to be ventilated and animals not be allowed within until the solution is dried and absorbed. Finally, the application area and equipment is to be soaped and rinsed clean before it is suitable for use.

A 0.5 percent solution of trifectant disinfectant is recommended for routine sanitation.

Advantages

Trifectant disinfectant is a versatile and unique blend of chemicals that are combined in a way that maximizes their effectiveness. It eliminates 99.9 percent of all major fungal, bacterial and viral pathogens within minutes of its application. Trifectant disinfectant is fast acting, biodegradable and emits no harmful environmental residue. It can be used effectively on a wide range of surfaces and equipment, including wood and metal.
