Pet Friendly Campsites In Michigan

See one of the many waterfalls in Upper Michigan.

Michigan has a number of campgrounds that welcome pets. Many of them are found in the Upper Michigan area near lakes and other local attractions. The campgrounds are open during spring, summer and fall, but are closed during the cold winter months. Visitors can enjoy many outdoor activities, including hiking, hunting and sightseeing at the region's lighthouses and many waterfalls.

Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping

Mackinaw Mill Creek has 600 sites, 200 of which are full hookups with 20-, 30- or 50-amp service. Some sites also offer lake views. The campground allows pets on a 6-foot or shorter leash, but not on the beach. Rottweilers and pit bulls are not allowed, nor are any aggressive dogs; however, they can be boarded at nearby kennels in Mackinaw City or St. Ignace. Campground amenities include a swimming pool, flush toilets, showers, camp store and WiFi access; the latter involves a fee. Mackinaw Mill Creek is near Thunder Falls Family Water Park, golf courses, parasailing opportunities and Mackinaw Island.

Sherman's Resort Cabins, Campground and Guide Service

Sherman's Resort is located in Upper Michigan, south of Manistique Lake. It offers fishing, boating and swimming on the lake. Pets are allowed at the campground with a $25 fee per animal. Campsites can accommodate up to 40-foot RVs and have picnic tables, fire pits, and electric and water hookups. There is also a dump station and bathhouse.

Perkins Park Campground

Located in Marquette County in Upper Michigan, Perkins Park provides pull-through sites, full hookup sites, no hookup sites and tent sites. Pets are welcome, but must be on a leash less than 6 feet long. Pets cannot play on the beach or in the public picnic area. The campground offers free wireless Internet, fire pits, picnic tables, restrooms and a playground. Lake Independence offers swimming, fishing and canoeing. The campsites can be rented daily, weekly or monthly.
