Look For A Dog By Akc Number Plate

Find a Dog by AKC Registration Number

The American Kennel Club (AKC) allows you to find a dog through their online database by typing in its registration number. This works with all types of AKC registrations, including full registration (the dog may compete in conformation shows and its progeny is eligible for registration) or limited registration (the dog can compete in working events, but not conformation, and its offspring are ineligible for AKC registration). When you look the dog up by its registration number, you'll be given the breed and the full-registered name.

Instructions

1. Go to "Customer Service" at the very top of the AKC home page.

2. Click on "AKC Paperwork Questions" on the right side of the page under "Other Common Questions."

3. Scroll down and click on "I lost my dog's registration number. How can I find it?" Open the link displayed, then click on "Dogs Lookup." It will give you two choices: to enter the dog's registration number or to search by the breed (if known) and registered name.

4. Type the dog's registration number, including the letters preceding the number, into the box and click "Go."
