Registering a dog means tracking and validating it through one of the national kennel clubs. These clubs keep records of bloodlines, breedings, puppies and even deaths of dogs. To register with the American Kennel Club or Continental Kennel Club, your dog needs to satisfy some basic requirements. Then you can go through the registration online.
Instructions
1. Gather the necessary paperwork for registration. Any breeder should have provided puppy registration paperwork, which was filled out and ready for submission to the AKC or CKC.
2. Request the registration numbers of both parents from the breeder if you did not receive this paperwork. All AKC or CKC-registered dogs are given numbers to prove that they are purebred, You'll need these to fill out your registration application.
3. Download the AKC or CKC registration application from the website of the desired organization, and fill it out. If your puppy's parents were AKC registered, register it with the AKC. If your puppy's parents were CKC registered, register it with the CKC. These applications can be submitted electronically or through the mail.
