If you are looking for creative ways to spotlight an organization or charity in order to help raise funds for that entity, whether you are the organization's director or a volunteer, offering gift cards is one way to help accomplish a fundraising goal. Remember that it's important to create a broad strategy, incorporating other marketing techniques, to help gather public awareness of your fundraising campaign.
Clever Gift Card Designs
Develop a clever, funny or otherwise provocative design to really make an impression with your gift cards. Use photos, artwork or other graphics like clip-art, along with or without text, to catch the recipient's eye. Create design and text for placement on your gift cards in a graphics program. A freeware program like GIMP is a good choice for devising your designs. If you are a non-profit, you can often receive a discount on bulk printing rates, which will help you put more dollars toward your primary need.
Adding Logos and Web Addresses
It is crucial that your gift cards lead the recipients of your cards to purchase your cards, make a donation, and even help to spread your message and advocate your organization's cause. Use the logo and/or web address of an organization or charity on your gift card. This can help shine a light on the organization and point people to where they can go to get more information and, hopefully, make a donation.
Customized Gift Cards
Create customized gift cards that focus on your charity/organization's purpose in terms of who it helps or what it supports. For example, enlist children to create artwork that represents the beneficiaries of your organization. If your non-profit's mission is to help abandoned and abused animals, children can draw images of dogs, cats and other animals that your charity seeks to help. You can also use photographs of the animals that you have saved with text that reads, " I'm so happy now, but my friends still need your help."
