Pet rescue fund-raising will help your organization get the money that it needs to save as many animals as possible. Few people want to see animals suffer, but they may not realize just how much money it costs to run a rescue organization. Fortunately, you can raise funds for a pet rescue through a variety of methods. Find the one that works best in your community and you can repeat it on a yearly basis.
Instructions
1. Charge an adoption fee. When people come to adopt animals from your rescue, charge them a fee to cover some of your costs, especially any veterinary care the the animal received. If you're concerned that the adoption fee may make adoption unattainable for some families, you can charge a sliding scale fee.
2. Solicit donations from the community. Ask for donations from those that support your cause. You can do this through your website or at your pet rescue directly. You can also create a mailing list of interested people and send direct mail to ask for donations.
3. Sell items as a fundraiser for your pet rescue organization. Look for fund-raising items that you can sell. Popular choices include candy, cookie dough and discount cards for local businesses. When you sell these things, you'll get to keep a portion of the profit.
4. Organize a fundraising event. Hold an event in your community such as a concert or fair. Charge an admission to raise funds or simply ask for donations.
5. Hold a silent auction. Ask community members to donate items that you can auction off. During the night of the auction, people place bids on the items that interest them, and the highest bidder wins. Be sure to include a lot of animal-related items, as the interested people are likely to have pets.
