Stair Gates For Pets

Keep your pets secure with a safety gate.

Pet safety gates are a great way to keep pets safe without having to crate or tether them while you're not home. Most pet gates can be set up in a half hour or less.

Types

You can find plastic, metal or wooden pet safety gates in a variety of sizes. Pet gates can be freestanding, or they can attach to a wall using a tension or clamp system.

Uses

You can use pet safety gates to segregate puppies from older pets, keep a cat litter box sequestered, to cordon off your food pantry from unwanted animal visitors or to keep a pet from escaping off a porch or balcony.

Where to Buy

You can purchase pet safety gates at your local pet store or via the Internet. Check yard sales and thrift stores for baby gates that you can use as pet safety gates.

Warning

If you have a small pet, make sure that it cannot slip through the grates on a metal pet gate. Also, check that it can't go underneath, jump over the gate or otherwise potentially injure itself around the safety gate.

Considerations

Unless you purchase a safety gate with a door, you'll have to remove or climb over pressure-mounted gates every time you need to access a certain area.
