Just How Much To Charge For Any Doggy Daycare

Dog day care rates vary across the country.

Doggie daycare gives owners peace of mind that their beloved pooch is doing more than just sitting around at home waiting for their owner, or worse, destroying the house out of boredom. It can be rewarding, and a lucrative business as well, with the right fee structure.

Average Fees

Location, experience and years in business all factor into the fees a doggie daycare business charges. Fees may range from $10 a day to over $50 a day.

Competitive Rates

Rates need to be competitive with other dog care providers. Competitors include pet sitters and groomers and trainers if you also provide these services. Do an inventory of what rates are being charged in your area.

Calculating Costs

Determining the daily costs of a doggie day care business will help you decide how much to charge. Costs of the business will include pet supplies, food and business insurance.

Making a Profit

To make a profit you can structure the business in one of two ways. You can specialize in caring for a small number of dogs per day, giving individualized attention, and charging a higher daily rate. To charge lower daily fees you will need to accept more dogs per day, forming a doggie playgroup.

Extras

Many owners will pay for their dogs to get special treatment. Charge extra for special services such as long walks or hikes, bathing, grooming or training.
