Suggestions For A Horse Riding Fundraiser Event

Pony rides are one option for a fun fundraising event.

Fundraising comes in a variety of styles with multiple options in existence to raise much needed monies for charities and organizations. One option for a fundraiser involves horseback riding. Suitable for a variety of ages and locations; opting for an event based around horses can draw a crowd and make for a unique option to draw in people and raise funds.

Pony Rides

One option for a horseback riding event, suitable for children, is to have pony rides. This type of an event can be done at a horse stable where ponies are boarded or the ponies can be brought to a park or other open area. The riding ring is sectioned off and handlers guide children around the ring for a ride on a pony. Getting horse owners to donate ponies for this type of an event helps increase the total profit derived.

Riding Lessons

A fundraising event, and one that can continue on for weeks or even months, involves offering riding lessons. To run this type of an event you would need to get riders and horse owners signed on where they agree to provide riding lessons free of charge to the charity. The riders taking lessons pay for their lessons via donations made to the charity. To make this event a one time offering, line up multiple horses, handlers and instructors and use a large farm or park for the event and make an entire day out of it.

A Day at the Racetrack

A twist on a horseback riding fundraiser involves using an operational racetrack. You would contact horse owners and jockeys to participate in the event. You would sell tickets to the event where each participant is assigned a horse and jockey. The guest then gets to tour the stable, help feed and groom the horse, take a short ride on the horse with the jockey and then wins front row seats to the next live race the horse competes in. This event can bring in a lot more money compared to other horse-riding events.

Amateur Competition

For areas where known riders and horse owners exist, you can organize an amateur riding event. Those competing pay an entry fee and the charity would solicit prizes or trophies from local businesses to hand out at the conclusion of the event. If enough riders sign up, selling admission tickets is yet another way to raise even more money by celebrating the sport of horseback riding.
