The correct measurements will ease the installation process.
Shower kits allow you to easily install a shower on your own. The most common sizes for bathroom remodeling jobs are 36 by 36 inches and 38 by 38 inches. It is extremely important that the measurements be accurate. To ensure accuracy, it's best to measure twice -- only after the space has been prepared for installation -- and write down the measurements so you can bring them with you when purchasing your kit.
Instructions
1. Measure from the corner outward on the floor, along the two walls for a corner shower unit. This is where the shower base will sit.
2. Measure the shower width in two places if you plan to install the shower in an alcove. Measure from wall to wall and at the top and bottom of the opening.
3. Measure from the base of the shower to the top of the wall unit.
4. Measure the depth from the back wall to the front of the enclosure area along both side walls.
5. Measure the fixture positions and the length from the fixtures to the hook-ups.
6. Match the drain configuration in the new shower stall to the existing plumbing. If the existing plumbing configures the drain in the center of the base, choose a new stall with the same configuration.
