That Chicago affords many attractions and amusements for humans should come as no surprise. But, additionally, the city offers many diversions for man's best friend. Chicago has numerous dog-friendly parks, beaches, bakeries, and other businesses. Moreover, Windy City canines can visit doggy spas and even an indoor social club.
Pooch Park
Just a few miles North of Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood, Pooch Park in Skokie is a 2.7-acre recreational facility where dogs can play off-leash. The park contains a separate "agility" zone as well as an area for small dogs and puppies, according to the website of the City of Evanston, which jointly operates the park with the Skokie Park District. Drinking fountains are available for both people and pets. Additionally, Pooch Park hosts a "Woofstock" celebration every June with dog acts, demonstrations, music, food, exhibits, contests and other activities for dogs. All visitors to Pooch Park will need to pay an annual fee for usage of the park. Park hours are from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Three Dog Bakery
Three Dog Bakery is a full-functioning bakery for dogs that uses all-natural ingredients such as apples, blueberries, molasses and canola oil. No salt, sugar or chemicals are used in its canine cuisine. Recipes for their dog biscuits and other treats have all been developed in consultation with veterinarians and multiple four-legged taste-testers. Streeterville offers a pampered pet spa for both cats and dogs. With more than 20 years of experience, the boutique provides grooming services in a spotless, relaxing environment. Of Mutts And Men
Occupying a large Roscoe Village storefront, Of Mutts and Men maintains an indoor park and social club where owners and their dogs can chill. The space has a main ring for walking and playing with dogs. Afterward, pet owners can play pool, chess, and watch TV with their dogs by their side. The place stays open late Monday nights for televised football games. Daily, monthly, and yearly membership fees are available.

Beaches: Belmont and Montrose Harbors
Dogs are allowed on several Chicago-area beaches. Belmont Harbor permits dogs on leash. Montrose Harbor allows dogs to run leash-free. All dogs require purchase of a permit for using parks or beaches in Chicago. Proof of certain vaccinations is also required. Contact the Chicago Park District for more information.
