Create A Paper House

It's easy and inexpensive to make a paper house. This craft activity allows children to use their imagination and creativity to design and color their paper houses. It's a fun and detailed project that can keep them busy for hours on rainy or snowy days.

Instructions

1. Download a paper house template to your computer (see Resources below). Browse to the folder where you saved it. Double-click to open the template.

2. Put paper in the printer. For best results, use heavier grade paper or print out the template and trace it onto heavier paper. Choose "File" from the menu and select "Print."

3. Choose a color for the house. Color the house with crayons or paint with watercolors. Color the roof.

4. Add details like window and door frames, curtains, people, shrubs, flowers and signs. Cut out colored cellophane to fit windows. Apply glue around the edges and adhere to the inside of the windows.

5. Use scissors to cut around the outline of the house and roof. Cut out windows and doors. Run a ballpoint pen along the fold and hinge lines.

6. Fold the edges of the house and the tabs. Dab some glue on the tabs. Hold the tabs in place until the glue dries or use a clip or clothespin.

7. Bend the roof along the center and add it to the top of the house.
