Look For A Dog A Brand New Home

There are some ways to find a dog a new home that only require a little effort. If you are moving into a smaller apartment or changing your living situation where having a dog is not feasible, then consider ways to find your dog a new home where you may be able to keep in touch. On the other hand, if you find a stray dog that is loving and would make a wonderful pet, instead of going straight to the pound, take some time to try to find the dog a nice home where it will be loved and well-cared for.

Instructions

1. First, ask your friends and family if they have been considering a new dog for their home. Explain to them the situation and tell them a little bit about your furry friend, if they don't already know. They may be willing to adopt your dog and give it a permanent loving home. The advantage to finding a dog a home with a friend or family member is that you will be able to visit and still keep in touch with your pet.

2. If you friends and family are not looking for a new dog, then consider reaching out further into your social network. Take a cute picture of the dog and create a simple flyer explaining the situation and a little bit about the dog. Hang the flyer at work and also send an email out to everyone you know. Encourage others to send the email further on to the pet lovers in their lives.

3. A lot of pet stores have bulletin boards available for customers to post information about missing pets or pets up for adoption. Take your flyer to the local pet stores in your area and hang it up on the bulletin board. Make sure that you post your contact information clearly or even have little tear-off tabs where interested folk will be able to take with them.

4. Aside from bulletin boards at pet stores, a lot of these stores have ties with pet adoption organizations. Ask the store manager if they are familiar with any dog adoption agencies that do good work in the community. They may be able to put you in touch with people whose specialty is to find a dog a new home.

5. If you are active on-line through pet related forums or even through social networking sites, then considering sending the message out through an online medium. Include a picture and brief bio on the dog. With hope, someone that you know in your social network will be able to take the dog in as part of their family.

6. Take your time when finding a dog a new home. You may want to consider some questions you can ask the would-be owner to make sure that your dog is going to the best home and will have the best owners possible. If time is not on your side, consider asking some friends to pet sit while you continue your search for the perfect home for your dog. Your dog will appreciate it and you will sleep better at night knowing that your dog is in good hands.
