Make Canine Beds Cheaply

make dog beds.

Anyone with dogs knows that eventually, they want to get on the couch, their "people's" bed, the good chair, etc. If your dogs shed like ours, you will find the evidence all over the place.

Here's make Fido his very own bed, and keep your furniture neat and clean.

Instructions

1. Go to your local fabric store or the craft section of your big box store and choose fabric remnants. Remnants are the last bits of the bolt of fabric that are sold inexpensively. Choose appropriately for your pet - we have giant, rowdy dogs, so I buy upholstery fabric and lots of it. If you have a small, mild dog, you can get away with almost anything.

2. Launder the fabric, and then cut two identical shapes. Rectangles are easiest and fit into most kennels. If you are experienced with sewing, experiment with shapes.

3. Stitch the fabric together, wrong ends facing. Leave about a 5" opening on one side. Turn the stitched item right side out.

4. Stuff it. Use scissors, a capped pen, or other pointed object to get the stuffing in the corners. Every so often, put some cedar chips in the bed. This helps reduce doggie odor.

5. Once you have the bed stuffed to your desired puffiness, then hand-stitch the opening closed. Now comes the harder part - getting Fido off your couch.
