Electric Collar Training for a Great Dane
Great Danes are loyal and fun-loving dogs. However, they are very large and a handful to train. Electric collars, which transmit an electric shock to the animal, can be useful in training your Great Dane, but it's important to understand how they work.
Is an E-Collar Right for You?
Great Danes can be loving and friendly if raised in the right environment. Many pet trainers advocate using positive reinforcement whenever possible. Be sure you have exhausted all reward-based options before resorting to an electric collar.
Range
A Great Dane is impossible to catch at full stride. Luckily, shock collars have a long range. In general, you can reinforce a command as long as you are within 100 to 300 feet.

If you have more than one Great Dane, you will want to use an electric collar that has multiple frequencies.
Voice Commands
Always use a voice command before you shock your Great Dane. This will help it to learn the meaning of the voice command in the future and that it needs to obey immediately.
Barking Problems
You can also train your Great Dane to stop barking. You can use a shock collar that automatically detects the bark and emits an immediate shock, or you can do it manually.
Invisible Fence
Great Danes are high-energy dogs. If you have a large property, consider using an invisible fence system with your electronic collar to teach your Great Dane the boundaries to keep it safe.
